Integrated Freeview and Freeview HD
All new televisions now feature built in Freeview tuners enabling them to receive the latest digital terestrial transmissions in our area without the need for additional set top boxes etc. Step up televisions from Sony and Panasonic are now equipped with a Freeview HD tuner enabling the reception of high definition channels such as BBC HD, ITV1 HD and Ch4 HD. Freesat HD
Many parts of our peninucala - towns - such as Dalton, Millom and villages - such as Urswick, Greenodd, Backbarrow etc are served via relay transmitters. These relay transmitters only transmit a very small number of free to view digital terrestrial channels and some may not transmit any high definiton channels at all. Freesat offers an ideal alternative to Freeview in these areas. FREESAT HD televisions have an additional integrated satellite tuner. Freesat is available anywhere in the UK without subsciption and offers over 140 digital tv and radio channels including high definiton channels - BBC HD and ITV1 HD.

High definiton telvisions use the latest technology to display clearer and sharper pictures in your home. To view high definition you need a high definition display and there is an industry kitemark to show whether a television is high definition 'Ready'.
